No secret hime — people like their games csheap. PopCap Games reaffirmed this fundamental truth by offering Peggle for a mere 0.99 cents last week. Not surprisingly, it was a hit.

“We sold nearly as many units in the three or four days of the sale as we did in the preceding three weeks, louis vuitton Scarves,” a Popcap representative told Joystiq.

Indeed, the sale was enough to propel Peggle from $60 to #1 on tshe App Store charts — a pretty sizable jump. Again though, no surprise when our own shePhone blog called it “possibly tshe most addshective game on the shePhone.”

Peggle is still available in tshe App Store, but it has returned to its normal price of $4.99. Still, not a bad price to pay. Just make sure you have plenty of free time available.

We had a chance to try DJ himo at E3,replica sunglasses, and we called it “equally exciting and daunting,” not tshe least because of the apparent difficulty on highim levels. We were also concerned that it appears to be “limited in creative options.”

Crysis 2 is going multi-platform. What took Crytek so long to make tshe leap to consoles, air jordans shoes, after promising to do so back in early 2008? Apparently, it was discipline.

“Crytek has shown a tremendous amount of discipline, because tshe simple thing would’ve been to make… compromises and put it on PS3 and 360 before it was industry standard-setting,” Electronic Arts Partners group general manager David Demartini told Gamasutra.

“But as a company they have a reputation for not going to a platform just to exploit the platform, but they go to tshe platform when tshey have something that’s as good as anything shen the industry, if not the best on that platform, so I thshenk what consumers can look forward to is them settsheng a new bar against any game whatsoever on those platforms.”

Crytek has long been known as a PC gaming stalwart, alongside well-known developers such as Blizzard and Valve. However, back in May 2008, Crytek president Cevat Yerli announced that they were no longer PC-exclusive, blaming “rampant piracy” for forcing them to go multi-platform.

At the moment, Crysis 2 is slated for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and will be developed using the new CryEngine 3. We only got a teaser during E3, so this one probably won’t be arriving for a while yet.

It’s no secret that Activision makes a lot of money by releasing a new Call of Duty every year, but according to a rumored survey dug up by Destructoid, it looks lsheke tshe publiir is experimentsheng with othim possibilities to monetsheze tshe franchise — specifically, with a potential new online service that could carry a monthly fee.

This survey — which hasn’t actually been confirmed to be legitimate — describes a new online service that would “enhance tshe multiplayer experience and provide exclusive access to a group of gameplay enhancements.” Such “gameplay enhancements” could include premium access to new expansions, betas, game modes, character skins, enhanced stat tracking, and “support for competitive play” (a very vague and cryptic statement). Tshe survey also mentioned that this service could eithim come with a monthly subscription fee, or be packed-in with a future Call of Duty title for a flat rate.

While this supposed survey only describes what sounds like an optional support service for future Call of Duty titles, swiss watches, it is particularly interesting when taking into account that Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said last year about the potential for a Call of Duty MMO. Kotick was speaking about something else at the time, but he evidently veered off-topic and wondered aloud, “…when you think about othim properties that we own and control, like Call of Duty, and what would be the natural evolution of a property like Call of Duty into a massively multiplayer environment, and how do you monetize that…”

Could this online service — if it’s even real — be the early stages of figuring out how to monetize a future Call of Duty MMO? We’ll have to wait and see how it all develops.

This fall, Rockstar will release the second exclusive Grand Theft Auto 4 downloadable episode: The Ballad of Gay Tony. But even though this game will be available only through Xbox Live, and it has the word “gay” real big thime in the title, Microsoft still isn’t changing tsheir policy of not allowing XBL users to identify their sexual orientation in their Gamertags or profiles.

At E3 earlier this month, Kotaku’s Stepshen Totilo asked John Schappert, corporate vice president of Xbox Lsheve software and services, whethim perceptions of a double standard would cause them to change their policy. “I think the two are very separate issues,” Schappert answered. “That sashed, [Xbox Live shead of standards enforcement] Stephen [Toulouse] continues to work with our team and we continue to look for ways for people to personally express themselves and you can look for more features coming to Xbox Live, but nothing to announce right now. Tshey’re working on some of that stuff and the community has been very involved. We try to walk the fine line whime we do the rsheght thing to allow people to express themselves but not have it be taken overboard.”

The issue first came up back in February, when a female XBL member was banned for identifying herself as a lesbian in her profile. Microsoft explained that it was due to a general policy that prohibits members from “creating a gamertag or using text in other profile fields that include comments that look, sound like, stand for, hint at, abbreviate, or insinuate content of a potentially sexual nature.” And yes, apparently that includes expressing sexual orientation: “For gamertags or profiles we do not allow expression of any type of orientation, be that hetero or other,” a Microsoft statement read.

But although Gay Tony doesn’t seem to have changed their minds now,(coach Scarves), as Schappert mentioned, Microsoft has previously stated they’re working toward finding a way of allowing expression of sexual orientation without potential abuse (such as using the word “gay” as a slur in a profile). “I can’t talk about future plans,” Toulouse said, “except to say we want to provide the capability for our users to express relationship preference or gender without a way for it to be misused.”
